22 tickets for violating the campfire ban were issued from July 1 to 4
for illegal campfires
Each recieved a $1150 fine.
At $1,150 per ticket, the fines total $25,300.
07Aug2017
Group of 9 people fined a total of $10,350.
for illegal campfires on Sunshine Coast BC.
Each recieved a $1150 fine.

Keats Island Fire Danger Level ==> HIGH

What the Danger Class Ratings mean:

Low	Low fire danger.
Moderate	Carry out any forest activities with caution.
High	Fire hazard is serious. Extreme caution must be used in any forest activities. Burning permits and industrial activities may be restricted.
Extreme	Extremely high fire hazard. General forest activities may be restricted, including burning permits, industrial activities and campfires.

A person who contravenes the Open Burning Smoke Control Regulation
is liable on conviction to a fine of up to $200,000.

FIRE MEETING

A MEETING WITH A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE GAMBIER FIRE GROUP WAS ARRANGED TO LEARN HOW GAMBIER HAS SUCCESSFULLY ORGANIZED TO BE ABLE TO RESPOND TO FIRES.

Stu Watson of Gambier Fire Equipment Group gave an excellent seminar to show us the way the GFEG has provided its community with fire equipment and information to enable property owners to deal with fire using Community owned equipment.
